Carson lost his first tooth yesterday. I talked him into pulling it out, it was just hanging there, being all bendy...eeeek! I couldn't look at it anymore- teeth should not be bendy.
So we found a little drawstring bag, and put the tooth in it, and put it under the pillow. We talked about how much he may get for his first tooth, I thought maybe $5 for a first tooth and $2 for each tooth after that was reasonable, he was happy with that too.
So this morning , he woke up and brought me what he found under his pillow. The bag that had the tooth now had 5 gold dollars in it and a note from the tooth fairy with fairy dust on it. He wasn't very excited about the coins, he was expecting a 5 dollar bill. I said do you want me to read you the note? He wasn't too excited about that either, but said "sure" anyway. The note said "Carson, Thank you for the tooth! It is so shiny and clean. Be sure to keep brushing everyday and take good care of your teeth! Have a happy day! Love, Isabella the Tooth Fairy". Again, not very excited about the note. Then I said"look, you have fairy dust on your face!" He marched right into the bathroom, got a washcloth wet and started scrubbing off any traces of fairy dust. A little while later he did find some more fairy dust on his bed and sprinkled it on his feet and then jumped off the back of the couch hoping to be able to fly.
Lessons learned from the first tooth fairy experience: girls may like all of the cutesy little fairy things, but boys just care about getting the cash. Now he is wondering when the next tooth will come out so he has enough money to go buy some Legos.
